YONECO hailed for its interventions in Malawi

The ministry of Gender, Children, Disability and Social Welfare has hailed Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) for it’s interventions in Malawi.

Principal Secretary in the ministry Dr Esmie Kainja, commended YONECO for promoting human rights and combating gender based violence.

She was speaking during a familiarization visit at YONECO headquarters in Zomba.

“YONECO’s Tithandize National Help Line is a noble platform where victimized people voice out their concerns with confidentiality and the needful help and counsel is provided, “she explained.

Dr Kainja described the Information Communication Technology (ICT) department and YFM within YONECO as major tools for message delivery to women, children and the youth.

She urged people in the country to utilize such platforms whenever they feel victimized.


MHRC Executive Secretary visits YONECO.

The Executive Secretary for the Malawi Human Rights Commission (MHRC), David Nungu, toured YONECO Head Office in Zomba.
The visit was aimed at familiarizing with the organisation’s various innovative approaches that are employed to promote the rights and welfare of the youth, women and children in Malawi.
During the tour, The Executive Secretary for MHRC toured the Tithandizane Helpline Service Centre which houses the Child Helpline (116); the GBV Crisis Line (5600) and the Drug and Substance Abuse Hotline.
During the tour, the Executive Secretary for MHRC further toured YONECO FM Studios as well as YONECO ICT centre.
